Hi! I am John Orsini. I cleaned windows from March 1989 until the end of June 2006. I enjoyed cleaning windows for my customers. I figured out that I cleaned over 500,000 windows.
Most of my window cleaning was residential. I did have some commercial storefront work, but I preferred the residential. I did the construction cleanup of the windows on many new homes. A few of the construction cleanup jobs took almost a week to do.
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts in December 1939. That makes
me
.. Oh, how time flies. I grew up in the town of Belmont,
Massachusetts, a close suburb of Boston.
When I was in junior high and high school, I had various jobs. I mowed lawns, cut hedges, shoveled snow, had a paper route, worked in a gas station, worked in an A & P Food Store, worked in a steel and aluminum metal supply company, painted three story houses from a rope swing stage, and a few more that I cannot recall right now. From age 21 to 26, I was in the USAF as a navigator. After that, I had over thirty jobs before I started cleaning windows. I was
never really satisfied with working until I started cleaning windows.
It is really a wonderful business. I get to please people by cleaning
their windows.
I never liked to clean windows as a child or as an adult. The glass
was always streaky or spotted when I finished. Over the years, I
recall seeing professional window cleaners doing buildings and commercial
businesses. They made it look so fast and so easy. They also got
great results. Little did I realize that one day I would be in the
window cleaning business. I have a section in the book that tells
how I got started doing it. It is quite a story. (You may click on the "my story" link on the left side of the page to read it.)
It took about six years to complete the ebook. I was working full time at window cleaning. I carried a tape recorder with me for two years. I recorded every little detail. I also made notes, when an idea came to me. I had to learn to use a computer, learn to use a digital camera and editing program, and Adobe Acrobat so I could put it in the Acrobat Reader format. I also had to learn what makes a good website. It was like getting a college degree.
As soon as I went online, I started receiving requests for a print book. Eventually, I produced the condensed version of the Screen Cleaning – Secrets of a Professional in print form. That was my advanced degree. There is a lot more to producing a print book than meets the eye. It was a great challenge, but very rewarding.
I hope you have found this little bit about me helpful in understanding who I am and how the books and website came about.
Thanks,
Johnny
